How our work creates change

Change doesn't come from fixing yourself — it comes from relating to yourself in a new way. Together, we'll look at the patterns that have shaped how you think, feel, and connect with others. Many of these patterns once served a purpose, but now they may be limiting your freedom, energy, and sense of connection.

In our work, you'll practice turning toward your experience with more awareness and flexibility. We'll clarify what matters most to you, and you'll begin choosing actions that align with your values — not just old habits or the choices that feel like relief.

This kind of work can be challenging, but it’s also liberating. It creates space for a more meaningful, connected, and self-directed life.

How I work

Sessions have a feel of discovery to them — we're figuring something out together rather than moving through a predetermined set of steps. I'm not going to ask you what you want to talk about and leave it at that. I'm actively working, tracking patterns, following what seems important.

My clients often say I'm easier to talk to than they expected of a therapist — open and direct, and willing to bring my genuine self into the room. I pay close attention to what happens between us — because what happens there matters, not as a side effect of the work, but as the work itself.

I am action-oriented: awareness matters, but so does figuring out what to do with it. Most of the time you'll leave with something concrete to sit with or try before we meet again, whether that's a new way of relating to something or a small experiment in doing things differently. I'm transparent about what we're doing and why. Often I'll ask you to step outside your comfort zone — not arbitrarily, but because that's usually where the useful stuff is.

I am committed to creating a therapeutic environment where all clients feel valued and respected. I recognize that systems of power — e.g., racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, classism — shape people's experiences in real ways, and I hold that at the forefront of my mind rather than as an afterthought. I work to understand the fullness of who you are, including the identities you hold and how they intersect with what brings you to therapy.
